Hole More Putts Guaranteed

Ensuring your alignment is spot on will help guarantee you hit straighter putts.

My preference when putting is for the following points to be aligned at or parallel to the target.

Aligned to the target:

  • Club Face

Aligned parallel to the target:

  • Shoulders
  • Forearms
  • Feet
  • Eyes
  • Hips

This will give us the best chance to make an “on plane” stroke while hitting the golf ball on the desired line.

So how do we know our Putter Face is aligned at our desired line.  One of the easiest ways is by using a device to draw a line across the top circumference of the ball.

Putter Alignment

Putter Alignment

Align the line on the ball to your intended target by getting down low behind the ball.  Walk back directly behind your ball and check if the ball line is correctly aligned.

Using a putter with a line on the top of it will now assist you in aligning your putter face to the target.  This is now done by aligning the line on your ball and the line on your putter.
If you have checked the line on the ball is aligned correctly then no matter what you think you may see when standing over the ball, you know that the putter face must be aligned straight.

When making your stroke, by simply learning to make the line roll straight you will be hitting your putts on the intended target line where you have aimed.
