Student Matt Buff prepares for the Nationals

Student of Willow Golf and the Trainee Professional at Yering Meadows Golf Club is preparing for the National Trainee Championships.

It is being held at Catalina Golf Club in New South Wales later this month.

Matt has been working very hard on his short game lately to prepare and tonight we were tuning up his wedge play.   Hitting various distances inside 100 metres.

GOOD LUCK MATT!!

Matty Buff has finished the 2010 National Trainee Championships in Tied 15th with scores of 72,73,71,75 (+3).

Matt said “Nothing went my way today and I didn’t hit it great but it was a great experience.”

I think it was a good result in his first National Trainee Championship and also that his average for the year is 4.5 over par. I am proud of Matt’s commitment and dedication to his game all year and especially leading up to this tournament.

I feel good things will happen in year 2 and 3 of his traineeship.

    Proud of you mate.

    I just heard from Matt…

He has had scores of 72,73,71 (Even) to be in 11th place with 1 round to play.

Matt is on track to reach his goal of being no worse than even par for the tournament if he can play well again tomorrow. Considering Matt’s scoring average for the year is around 4.5 shots over par, to be even par after 3 rounds in the biggest tournament of the year is a great achievement. Here’s hoping for a good last round and a top 10 finish.

    GO MATTY

Matt played the first round of the National Trainee Championships today and shot a fine 72 to be only 4 shots off the pace. Lets hope Matt can only improve from here and finish strong.
