Callaway GBB Epic Subzero Review
I have been fitting clients into this driver since it’s initial release. We have been getting fantastic results for our customers with the Callaway Epic models across the board.
After recently joining Team Callaway I was invited to attend a personal Club Fitting Session at the Callaway Performance Centre at Callaway HQ in Rowville, Victoria.

Callaway released the Epic series driver with much hype and fanfare, and I believe it is for good reason after now experiencing one.
1. The Look – I love the look and colours of the Epic driver. The carbon fibre crown and sole surrounded by black and green paintwork. It is a very nice looking driver both when setting up to tee off and to hold up close.
2. The Feel – It is one of the most solid feeling drivers I’d had. A solidly struck shot is met by the feeling of the full force of the clubhead behind the ball. No tinny or hollow feel to the club at all.
3. The Sound – Again it is a very solid sounding driver. No tinny or hollow sounding head. The materials used in the head dull the sound to a very pleasing, solid Thwack.
The Results – I hit my old driver to collect some data for comparison which I always hit very well. I hit a high number of fairways and averaged around 260m off the tee with it.
After some tweaking with the Epic Sub Zero during the clubfit, I was flying the ball around 260m with a total distance of roughly 285m. I generally make a +5 attack angle strike with the ball spinning at roughly 1900rpm with a launch angle of between 14 – 15 degrees.
This was backed up with my first game with the club last week. I hit every fairway…My heal misses remained on the fairway and still went around 265m-270m. My best drive was around 295m, slightly downwind.
This driver is seriously impressive. It certainly got my attention pretty quick and the results speak for themselves.
As always though… The key part to achieving these results is the fitting. This particular driver has been personally fitted and tweaked to suit my swing and everyone should be fitted to obtain the best results out of a club.
